Batuan Temple is a local Balinese Hindu temple looked after by the local resident of Batuan countryside. The temple is designed very beautiful with full of Balinese ornaments and the roof temple building is made from the fiber of chromatic black palm tree.
It is strategically located beside of the main road from Denpasar to Ubud. For over a thousand years, Batuan has been a village of artists and craftsmen, old legends and mysterious tales.
Batuan Temple were founded in the year 944 isaka (1020 AD). Nearly 1000 years old.The Batuan Temple is a Puseh Temple category based on the concept of Tri Kahyangan or Tri Murti taught by Mpu Kuturan around the 10th century to the Balinese Hindu community at the time.

Tri Kahyangan or Tri Murti including 3 temples :
Desa or Village Temple as a place to worship of God Brahma (the Creator)
Puseh Temple to worship of God Vishnu (the Preserver)
Dalem Temple to worship of Lord Shiva (the Destroyer)

Mas Village as one of the tourism object and attraction in Gianyar Regency is located between the village of arts that are mutually supportive and complimentary. In south of this village there is Batuan Village famous with the traditional painting of Batuan style, in east there is Kemenuh Village famous with the center of wood carving, in west is Lod Tunduh Village famous with painting, in the north is Peliatan Village famous with traditional dances and Kerawitan gamelan. In the northeast of this village, there is Gua Gajah, a famous tourist destination with cultures and archeological as a representation of diversity and the feature archeological of Balinese cultures.

The village of Kintamani is located around 1500 meter above the sea level, with the average of temperature 24 degree , from Kintamani village is the best view of witnessing the volcanoes Batur by the height of 1717 meter above the sea level.
The major point of interest for visitors is without doubt the highland area around Kintamani, which is perched on the lip of Mont Batur’s crater and looks out over the spectacular Crater Lake. The best view is from Penelokan, a little to the west around the crater from Kintamani, and from where one can see the cone of Mount Batur smoldering away and the black traces of its explosion on the landscape of the crater. A rather treacherous road leads from Penelokan down the crater to Toyah Bungkah, where soothing hot springs on the edge of the Crater Lake have recently been tapped off to create a magnificent spa complex. Toyah Bungkah is a pleasant place to stay the night and prepare for an early rise and the two-hour climb up Mount Batur, arriving in time to see the sunrise.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces in Ubud is famous for its beautiful scenes of rice paddies involving the subak (traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system), which according to history, was passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya in the eighth century. Tegallalang forms the three most splendid terraced landscapes in Ubud’s shared region, with the others being in the villages of Pejeng and Campuhan.

Tegallang alone has an outlook that spreads down before you and away to the rice terraces on the slopes across the valley. The high roadside location is cool and breezy and it is a well-known spot for tourists to stop and take photos. Painters and nature lovers also enjoy visiting this spot, and there are numerous art kiosks and cafes near the ledge offering their ware.

Every six months according to the Balinese 210-day Pawukon cycle, big temple anniversary celebrations are held at the temple. The temple’s keeper, the royal family of Jro Kuta from Denpasar, are patrons for the event.

Precautionary signs warn visitors of the monkeys grabbing attractive items such as sunglasses and cameras. However, they can be calmer when approached with peanuts or bananas, lending an opportunity to retake stolen possessions.

There hasn’t been any significant erosion on the shoreline underneath the temple’s towering cliff. Believers regard it as a manifestation of the divine power that protects Pura Uluwatu. Public facilities are available, but not in the temple area. Unlike some other tourist destinations in Bali, Uluwatu Temple area has limited amounts of hassling vendors.

Visitors must wear a sarong and a sash, as well as appropriate clothes common for temple visits. They can be hired here. The best time to visit is just before sunset. A Kecak dance is performed everyday at the adjacent cliff-top stage at 18:00 to 19:00. Visitors are charged a nominal fee. What makes it the most favourite venue to watch a Kecak dance is the sunset background of the performance.
